Bodegas Guiguan S. L.

Bodegas Guiguan is a family winery in Tinajo, in Lanzarote's volcanic interior, making wine from the municipality's grapes since 1948. Low rainfall and volcanic ground shape the house style: broad, powerful whites and reds with plenty of expression. Everything is done artisanally, and the range revolves around Malvasía, the island's signature white, which appears in several forms — dry, semi-sweet and aged. A sweet Moscatel, a rosado and a traditional red complete the line-up. This is a small village-scale producer rather than a big visitor complex: the point of stopping is to taste how the same grape changes with sweetness and time in wood. There is an on-site shop, handy because the full Malvasía range is rarely found together elsewhere. For wine-minded travellers it works well as a stop on an inland route, near the lava fields of Timanfaya, and as a straightforward way to see what Lanzarote Malvasía tastes like beyond the clichés.
