Bodega La Verea

Bodega● Open to visitorsChecked on 2026-10-19

La Verea is a small Lanzarote winery working with local grapes — volcanic Malvasía and Listán blanco and negro — planted in pits dug into volcanic ash at 250–300 metres, on vines over seventy years old that see only 120–150 litres of rain a year. Bottlings are numbered and tiny; several releases never reach a hundred bottles. The range splits into two groups. Tabaiba is the dry white, Malvasía with a little Listán blanco, fermented on native yeasts in a concrete egg and aged ten months across concrete, oak and steel, bottled unfined and unstabilised: citrus, texture, a saline edge. Malvarrisco is a rosé from Listán negro fermented in stainless steel, with raspberry and pink pepper. Nubium covers the sparkling wines: an ancestral-method blend of Listán blanco and Malvasía with eighteen months in bottle, and a traditional-method brut nature rosé of Listán negro aged twenty-two months. For a wine traveller the draw is scale and soil: pit-planted volcanic vineyards, nothing added to correct the wine, and fizz made in quantities that border on the symbolic.
